About

TEF-Health is a European Testing and Experimentation Facilities, of which Health Cluster Portugal is a partner, aiming to promote personalized medicine and citizen-centered care, increasing the effectiveness, resilience and sustainability of healthcare systems, through the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and robotics solutions, in addition to reducing inequalities in the provision of healthcare in Europe. The final objective of the project, which began in 2023 and ends in 2027, is to develop solutions (with a minimum TRL - Technology Readiness Level - of 4) that are capable of reaching a TRL between levels 5 and 9.

The Portuguese consortium of TEF-Health – Testing and Experimentation Facility for Health AI and Robotics includes, in addition to the Health Cluster Portugal, the Pedro Nunes Institute - the Portuguese consortium leader - the Centro Hospitalar Universitário de Coimbra (CHUC), the Centro Hospitalar Universitário de São João (CHUSJ), the Shared Services of the Ministry of Health (SPMS) and EIT Health Innostars.

The European project is made up of a consortium of 51 entities from 10 countries, being led by the Charité University Hospital, in Berlin.

With this project, TEF (Testing and Experimental Facilities) structures will be created, aiming to be a bridge between companies and hospitals. In addition to being able to serve as an environment for testing and demonstrating solutions, the TEF will enable ethical and data protection reviews of company projects, also integrating activities at the level of incubation or market analysis.
