Lisboa, 14-15 June 2010

The IMM – Instituto de Medicina Molecular, UL Inovar – Unidade de Transferência de Conhecimento da Universidade de Lisboa, and Health Cluster Portugal will organize, on 14 and 15 June 2010, in Lisboa, the course "Technology Transfer and Intellectual Property in Biomedicine".

Technology transfer from Universities to Industry is nowadays invaluable in the development of global economies and societies. This course intends to show to researchers the importance of these aspects, as well as to stimulate the identification of opportunities for technology transfer in the scope of their research in biomedicine. Technology transfer will be addressed from the view point not only of the researcher but also of the entrepreneur, which might stimulate the participants to create their own spin-off venture. The contents include information on both national and international support institutions that are crucial in the development of a venture and the protection of intellectual property. The aim of this course is to provide a first contact to researchers with matters such as the commercialization of products and technologies derived from biomedical research and also the protection of their inventions through the generation of patents.
