Paulina Piairo
Researcher, INL

Paulina Piairo carried out her PhD studies in Life and Health Sciences Research Institute (ICVS) at University of Minho. Currently, she joined International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory (INL) as a researcher in a project partnership with Instituto de Medicina Molecular (IMM) focusing in microfluidics applied to liquid biopsy for the quantification and molecular characterization of circulating tumor cells in metastatic clinical samples. She is a research and development team member of the startup RUBYnanomed.

"RUBYnanomed: liquid biopsy on-a-chip towards precision medicine"

RUBYnanomed aims at translating research into the clinic, making liquid biopsy accessible for oncologists and patients by providing an easy-to-use automated platform to retrieve cancer information at any time point through a blood draw. This technology combines microfluidics and nanotechnology to isolate cancer cells from unprocessed whole blood, allowing non-invasive cancer progression monitoring.
