Portuguese scientific production in the area of biomedicine grows close to 11% per year
Annual average growth rate more than three times higher than the world average
According to a benchmarking study performed by Evaluametrics, presented last 12 December during a Meeting of the HCP Members, the Portuguese scientific production in the area of biomedicine, although relatively small when compared to other countries/regions, has been consistently growing for many years now. Between 1998 and 2007, the research output has grown at an annual average growth rate close to 10.8%, a value more than three times higher than the world average (which is 3.3%), and higher than countries like Greece (10.6%), Czech Republic (8.3%), Ireland (7.6%) and the Swedish-Danish region of Medicon Valley (2.6%).
