The quality of the Portuguese scientific and technological institutions has been recognised in the evaluation processes carried out in recent years by independent panels of national and international experts.
In the area of Life and Health Sciences, in particular, the results of the evaluation of the R&D Units disclosed by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), referring to 2013, show that of the 24 units which were evaluated, 13 were classified as Exceptional, Excellent or Very Good.
