SKHINCAPS - Skin Healthcare by Innovative NanoCapsules

SKHINCAPS, a European project coordinated by CeNTI, aimed to develop customised and safe nanocapsules to deliver novel cosmetic and textiles products for skin healthcare applications, with increased efficiency and cost benefits. Using an innovative, safe and sustainable in situ self-assembly nanoencapsulation technology, different active ingredients have been nanoencapsulated. Further, considering the final application, the designed nanocapsules have three different release mechanisms to increase the effectiveness of the active ingredients. The achieved products were: first layer textiles with non-release nanocapsules containing phase change materials to improve thermal management and thermal comfort of the skin; creams and serum containing triggered-based nanocapsules loaded with a cocktail of vitamins and antioxidants, to enhance the anti-aging effect on end users; and lotions and textiles containing targeting-based nanocapsules loaded with natural essential oils, allowing the prevention or mitigation of bacterial infections in the end user's skin.
